The Missing Star

June 13, 2018 0 By John

Prepare yourself for the dark (hah) version of twinkle twinkle little star. I consider it my masterpiece.  It is a response to the question of the week, which was to rewrite a nursery rhyme to have the opposite feel/meaning as it had before.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
How we wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.

When the glorious sun has set,
And the grass with dew is wet,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.

When the golden sun doth rise,
Fills with shining light the skies,
Then you fade away from sight,
Shine no more ’till comes the night.

My masterpiece:

Twinkle twinkle, missing star,

How we wonder where you are,

Once above the world so high,

Now your missing,  no reason why

When once you helped us grow our crops

Now youve left us in the dark

Did we not appreciate your light

All thats left for us is night

Maybe if the sun would rise

We could do more than sit and sigh

Once we had the light of day

Now night is permanent, its here to stay
